About the Sako TRG 22/42

The Sako TRG 22/42 is a precision sniper rifle extensively used by various governments and sport shooters alike. Known for its robust and reliable performance in long-range competitions, it features a fully adjustable and reinforced stock and a bolt with a 60° angle rotation for quick operation. The receiver is designed with a 16.5mm dovetail with recoil notches and six mounting holes (three at the front and three at the back) to facilitate the attachment of tactical mounts like Picatinny rails. The Sako TRG 22/42 rifles offer various barrel lengths to accommodate different shooting needs. Specifically, the TRG 22 is typically fitted with a 510 mm or 600 mm barrel, whereas the TRG 42 generally comes with a 690 mm barrel.

Design of the Rail

The Contessa Picatinny Rail for Sako TRG 22/42 is constructed from steel, known for its superior hardness and durability compared to aluminum, ensures a higher degree of repeatability with less wear over time. The picatinny rail features 19 slots and 6 mounting holes, all secured with M3.5 threading. This picatinny rail is attached to the rifle with six screws and does not use 16.5mm dovetail.

Mounting Instructions

Remove all the stains (grease, oil etc.) from the rifle's receiver with a cleaning fluid (acetone). Once the surface is clean and dry, check whether the screws match the rail and the holes on the receiver. Before mounting the rail permanently, apply a minimal amount of thread-locking fluid 278 or 648 on screws. Be careful not to get the fluid in or near the mounting holes. Carefully clean the remaining excess fluid around the rail with a cleaning fluid. Using a torque driver, screw the screws appropriately (up to 3 Nm/26.5 in-lbs).
