Browning Arms Company was founded in 1880 by the prolific inventor John Moses Browning in Ogden, Utah. About the X-Bolt SA (71mm)

The Browning X-Bolt SA (B: 71.74 mm) is a bolt-action centerfire hunting rifle introduced in 2007. This rifle features the X-Lock Mounting System, designed with an X-pattern created by screws that attach the scope mount to the receiver. It employs a three-lever, fully adjustable X-Bolt Feather Trigger, enhancing shooting precision. The rifle includes a push-feed action with three front-locking lugs and a proprietary detachable rotary magazine. The safety mechanism is a tang-mounted two-position catch. Additionally, it has eight holes on the receiver for mounting purposes.

Design of the Rail

The Contessa Picatinny Rail for Browning X-Bolt Extra Short, extended for NV is constructed from steel, known for its superior hardness and durability compared to aluminum, ensures a higher degree of repeatability with less wear over time. The rail extends back towards the shooter because night vision devices need less eye relief and must be positioned further back on the firearm. The picatinny rail features 18 slots and 8 mounting holes, all secured with 6-48 threading. This picatinny rail is attached to the rifle with eight screws.

Mounting Instructions

Remove all the stains (grease, oil etc.) from the rifle's receiver with a cleaning fluid (acetone). Once the surface is clean and dry, check whether the screws match the rail and the holes on the receiver. Before mounting the rail permanently, apply a minimal amount of thread-locking fluid 278 or 648 on screws. Be careful not to get the fluid in or near the mounting holes. Carefully clean the remaining excess fluid around the rail with a cleaning fluid. Using a torque driver, screw the screws appropriately (up to 3 Nm/26.5 in-lbs).
