The Athlon Ares ETR GEN2 UHD series is a line of precision riflescopes designed for long-range shooters, competitors, and hunters who want high-grade optics with dependable mechanics. Building on the first-generation Ares ETR, the second generation brings a refreshed design while keeping the core concept of combining high optical quality with features required for precision shooting.

The series covers a broad range of applications. The 1-10×24 FFP model is aimed at fast, close- to mid-range engagements, the 4.5-30×56 FFP model serves as a versatile long-range and precision rifle scope, while the 15-60×56 SFP model is built for extreme magnification on the range and in benchrest-style disciplines. Reticles are available in both MIL and MOA versions, so shooters can match their scope to their preferred measurement system and ballistic data.

Common to the series are UHD glass with extra-low dispersion elements, advanced fully multi-coated lenses, etched glass illuminated reticles, and a precision zero stop system. The one-piece aircraft-grade aluminium tube is argon purged and built to be waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof, while the XPL protective coating on the external lens surfaces helps keep the glass clear in demanding field conditions.

ABOUT THE MODEL (ATHLON ARES ETR 4.5-30X56 GEN2 UHD)

The Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30×56 GEN2 UHD is the long-range workhorse of the series, suited to precision shooting, PRS-style competition, and long-range hunting. Its 4.5–30× magnification range offers a wide field of view of 8.2 m at 100 m at the low end for target acquisition and close-range positions, and enough magnification at 30× for small targets and precise shot placement at extended distances.

The 56 mm objective lens and UHD glass with advanced fully multi-coated surfaces deliver a bright image with good contrast and true colour rendition. This is useful in early-morning and evening hunting situations, as well as when observing fine details such as bullet trace or wind indicators downrange.

The scope is available with two illuminated first focal plane reticles: the APRS12 FFP IR MIL and the APLR12 FFP IR MOA. Because the reticle sits in the first focal plane, its subtensions remain valid at every magnification. The reticle is etched on glass and features variable brightness illumination, with off positions between each setting so you can switch quickly to your preferred intensity. Illumination is powered by a CR2032 battery.

Mechanically, the scope uses exposed turrets with 0.1 MIL clicks (10 MIL per rotation) on the MIL version and 0.25 MOA clicks (25 MOA per rotation) on the MOA version. A total of 32 MIL or 110 MOA of elevation and windage travel, supported by a 34 mm main tube and a high precision erector system, provides ample adjustment for long-range dialling. The elevation turret incorporates a precision zero stop, while the locking windage turret is pulled out to dial and pushed in to lock. Side focus parallax adjustment from 23 m (25 yds) to infinity, a fast focus eyepiece, and an included throw lever for quick magnification changes complete the package.
